Develop Action Steps

Action steps should thoughtfully transition the organization toward its goals. Action steps funnel the ideas generated throughout the capacity-building process into discreet and achievable projects. Teams are encouraged to get as specific as possible at this stage.

An action plan should consider time allocations, sequencing, authorization requirements, resources needed, communication strategies, and any education or training needed to sustain changes.

Suggested Steps

  1. Integrate goals and strategies into a written action plan. A very basic template is below.
  2. Determine where outside training, technical assistance, or funding might be useful or necessary.
  3. Establish roles and expectations for implementation.
